About This Access Site
Oasis on the Snake is a BLM-managed access point on the Snake River near Huntington, Oregon, featuring a concrete boat ramp and dedicated raft launch facilities. The site includes a large pool for boat launches and a separate back channel for rafts, with day-use parking available. An adjacent private RV campground (41 sites with full hookups) offers overnight accommodations for those planning extended trips.

The Snake River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow—averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second—and swift current typical of this section. The river has a steep average gradient of 15.8 feet per mile, making it suitable for experienced paddlers and boaters. Note that the raft launch area experiences swift water conditions and some erosion on the lower steps. This access point serves as a logical put-in for floating the scenic Snake River canyon downstream, with multiple designated camping areas available between here and Byington Boat Access.

Nearby recreation includes the Weiser Dunes OHV area and Mann Creek Reservoir for those seeking additional activities in the region.
