The Ocqueok River boat ramp is a protected public launch located at the mouth of the river near Ocqueok in Presque Isle County, featuring an improved ramp with a viewing deck on the bluff overlooking the river and convenient stairs down to the launch area. From this access point, it's approximately 1/4 mile paddling downstream to Lake Huron, making it ideal for those wanting to access both the river and the larger lake. This is a rare public access point in the area, as most surrounding land is privately owned.
Paddlers should note that the Ocqueok River features slow-moving water upstream and relatively easy paddling conditions. It may be possible to paddle upriver toward the Ocqueok Falls Dam, depending on water levels and personal skill level. This access site is well-suited for kayakers and canoeists of varying abilities, though those interested in exploring the river should be aware that this is the primary public launch available in the region.
