About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Old Fort Boise provides day-use boat access to the Snake River in the Fort Boise Wildlife Management Area near Apple Valley in Canyon County. The ramp is located at the confluence of Sand Hollow Creek and the Snake River within the Columbia Plateau region. Please note that the main entrance road periodically closes seasonally, so verify access conditions before planning your trip.

**River Conditions:** The Snake River at this location is a major river system averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second flow with an average velocity of 10.8 feet/second. The section here sits within the river's headwaters region, with a notable average gradient of 15.8 feet/mile, indicating moderately swift current. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for strong flows and check current water conditions and regulations before launching.

**Planning Your Visit:** Day use only. This is a popular access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. Anglers should verify current fishing regulations, and hunters should check hunting regulations as this is a Wildlife Management Area. Pack out all waste and leave the site as you found it. Plan ahead regarding seasonal access closures to the entrance road.
