Orchard Lake

**Location & Access**
Orchard Lake's public boat ramp is located on the east side of the lake in Lakeville, Dakota County, accessible off Orchard Lake Road. Note that you can only turn into the access from the south side of Orchard Lake Road. The site provides direct water access to this shallow lake surrounded by residential development and natural areas.

**Paddling Conditions & Features**
Orchard Lake is suitable for kayakers and canoeists seeking a calm, protected paddling environment. Be prepared for heavy aquatic vegetation throughout most of the year, which limits angling from shore but is typical of this type of water body. The lake has three areas of public shoreline: the boat access site itself, a public beach on the west shore, and a small open area at the northeast corner. Nearby recreational opportunities include the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and the Minnesota Valley Wetland Management District, making this a good base for exploring the broader regional wildlife and wetland ecosystem.
