Orono Lake is a 301-acre lake in Sherburne County, Minnesota, offering public boat access via a dedicated launch facility. The lake has a maximum depth of 18 feet, making it suitable for various watercraft. The access site features a recently redesigned boat ramp with improved parking and a straight-line backup configuration for easier launching and retrieval.
The facility includes dedicated access areas for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, making it particularly user-friendly for non-motorized paddlers. The North Arm of the lake is easily accessible from this point. Located near the scenic Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge area in east central Minnesota (approximately 50 miles northwest of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro), this access point provides a good launching point for exploring the lake and nearby paddling opportunities.
