St. Croix River, Osceola State Water Access Site

Osceola Landing in Shafer is the busiest access point on the St. Croix River National Scenic Riverway, serving as the popular take-out spot for day trips through the Dalles. The facility features two separate boat launches designed to accommodate both motorized and non-motorized watercraft, with dedicated areas to improve safety and reduce congestion. Amenities include paved parking, drinking water, restrooms, and picnic tables.

The landing is well-suited for kayakers and canoeists heading downstream or completing longer paddling trips. Recent improvements include a paved walking path with informational signage and new vault toilets. Paddlers should note that the National Park Service maintains special regulations for paddle-in campsites along the lower St. Croix, and it's recommended to contact NPS in advance for current information about overnight use and site availability.
