Otay Lake Recreation Area

The Otay Lake Recreation Area offers a convenient boat ramp for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters on the picturesque Lower Otay Lake. The launch site is open to the public, with a small fee for using the ramp.

Rental rowboats, motorboats, and kayaks are available Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday for fishing and recreational boating. Private boaters are welcome to launch their own craft from the ramp. Lower Otay Lake is a reservoir located in Chula Vista, providing a calm and scenic setting for paddling and small motorized boating.

The recreation area is situated near the Otay Mountain Wilderness and San Diego National Wildlife Refuge, offering opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and other outdoor activities in addition to water-based recreation. Boaters should be aware that the lake is closed on the second Wednesday of each month, so it's best to check the schedule before planning a visit.
