Located on Wright Patman Lake near the Sulphur River channel in Douglassville, Overcup Landing offers a free, year-round boat ramp suitable for vessels of all sizes. The ramp provides convenient access to the 30,000-acre Wright Patman Lake, a major recreational destination in northeast Texas's piney woods region. To reach the landing, take Texas Highway 8 north from Douglassville for about three miles, then turn left and follow signs to the ramp (located 2.5 miles north of FM 3129). Alternatively, access via US 59 to the south side of the dam.
Kayakers and canoeists will find Overcup Landing a good launching point for exploring the upper lake and Sulphur River channel areas. The lake offers diverse paddling opportunities including general boating and fishing. Note that anglers should be aware bighead carp have been confirmed in the Sulphur River below Wright Patman Dam. For those planning an extended visit, Malden Lake Campground is available within 10 miles and offers reservable campsites. With 17 total boat ramps across the lake system, Wright Patman provides ample access for boaters of all interests.
