About This Access Site
The Oxbow Campground boat ramp provides access to the Colorado River in Cibola, California. This major river flows for over 1,000 miles, draining a vast watershed of over 200,000 square miles. With an average flow of 14,000 cubic feet per second and a slope of nearly 9 feet per mile, the Colorado can present challenging conditions for paddlers and boaters.

The boat ramp is located within the Oxbow Recreation and Wildlife Area, which offers RV and tent camping, as well as a day-use area. Fees are $10 for day-use or $15 for overnight stays. Boaters should be aware that the Oxbow Bridge has been destroyed, so travel north from the boat ramp is prohibited due to potential navigation hazards from debris. Caution is advised when navigating this section of the Colorado River.

The Oxbow Campground provides a convenient access point for exploring this iconic Western river. Paddlers and boaters should familiarize themselves with the river's character and plan accordingly before launching. Contact the Yuma Field Office for more information about permits and river conditions.
