The Oyster Shell Public Boat Ramp provides convenient access to the scenic Blackwater River near Milton. This facility features a single launching lane, courtesy docks, and parking for approximately 15 boat trailers, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. Restrooms and a picnic pavilion are available on-site for visitor convenience.
From this launch point, paddlers gain access to the tidal, mangrove-lined Blackwater River and its tributaries. Be aware that portions of the river narrow and become shallow during low tide, which may affect navigation depending on your vessel type and water conditions. The river's brackish, tidal nature makes it popular for fishing and wildlife viewing. Check tide schedules before launching, especially if paddling a kayak or canoe, to ensure adequate water depth in shallower sections.
