Located off Fishing Site Road in Richardsons, this state-managed boat ramp provides access to Indian Lake, the fourth-largest inland lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Indian Lake spans 6 miles long and 3 miles wide, offering plenty of open water for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating. The access site includes a paved quarter-mile trail along the lake shore, picnic areas with CCC-era shelters, and a designated swim beach. **Note: A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle access.**
The site serves as a convenient base for exploring the area's natural attractions. Palms Book State Park, home to Kitch-iti-kipi (Michigan's largest freshwater spring), is just 7 miles northwest. Several campgrounds are available within 10 miles, including Lyman Lake and Camp Seven Lake, both reservable. The calm, expansive waters of Indian Lake make it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels, with ample space for day trips or longer outings.
