Panther Lake offers convenient public boat access in the Peabody Wildlife Management Area near Paradise in Ohio County. The ramp provides launch access to the Pond River and the surrounding wetland ecosystem, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. This area is particularly scenic during spring, when white bass runs occur around early April.
The site is part of an actively developing access area, so paddlers should be aware that interior access and amenities are still being improved. Parking is limited to designated areas and maintained roads—please do not block gates or access roads. The wildlife area is known for excellent birdwatching, including bald eagles that hunt in the area and abundant waterfowl in the sloughs and wetlands. Note that hunting occurs seasonally in the area, so check current hunting seasons and exercise caution accordingly.
For the most current information on access conditions, parking availability, and any seasonal restrictions, contact the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources or check their website and social media pages before your visit.
