About This Access Site
This boat ramp provides paddlers with convenient access to Plum Island River and Plum Island Sound in the heart of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Located directly across from Parking Lot 1, a 300-foot gravel road leads to a cement boat ramp specifically designed for non-motorized watercraft like kayaks and canoes. Water access is good at all tides, making this a reliable launch point regardless of when you paddle. While there is a fee to enter the refuge, **no additional charge applies to use the boat ramp**, and the paved parking lot accommodates over 100 vehicles.

The refuge offers paddlers an exceptional natural setting with over 4,700 acres of diverse habitats including tidal marshes, uplands, and sandy beaches. This is an ideal location for exploring protected waters while observing migratory birds and other wildlife. The area is part of marked water trails (Orange and Yellow segments) that guide paddlers through the refuge's scenic waterways. Combined with nearby boardwalks and viewing areas, this access point serves as a gateway to both paddling and wildlife observation opportunities along Massachusetts's northeast coast.
