About This Access Site
The Parmalee Bridge State Forest boat ramp provides excellent access to the Au Sable River for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The gravel-and-sand boat launch makes it easy to put in and take out your vessel. This section of the Au Sable River is relatively calm and suitable for paddlers of all skill levels.

The Au Sable River is a popular waterway for recreational boating, with a wide, steady flow and gentle gradient. At the Parmalee Bridge launch site, the river is approximately 100 feet wide, making it easy to navigate. Nearby campgrounds, including the Au Sable Loop Campground and Meadows ORV Campground, offer convenient options for overnight stays.

While the boat ramp is free to use, be aware that this is a remote access point without on-site staffing or amenities. Plan ahead by checking water levels, packing necessary gear, and familiarizing yourself with the river's character. With proper preparation, the Parmalee Bridge State Forest boat ramp provides a great starting point to explore the scenic Au Sable River.
