About This Access Site
Pat Mayse West offers convenient access to Pat Mayse Lake, a 6,000-acre impoundment on Sanders Creek in the Red River Basin near Paris, Texas. The facility features two concrete boat ramps—one single-lane and one dual-lane—making it well-suited for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. The lake's 67 miles of shoreline and calm, lake-like conditions provide excellent paddling opportunities for all skill levels, particularly for those seeking protected water suitable for families and recreational paddling.

This year-round Army Corps of Engineers facility offers comprehensive amenities including 88 campsites (83 with electric hookups), flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. A swim beach, picnic areas, and playground are also available. To reach the ramp from Paris, take Highway 271 north for 12 miles to FM 906 West, then follow local roads for approximately 6 miles. Pat Mayse West Campground is on the banks of its namesake lake in the Red River Basin in Lamar County, Texas. Easy access to developed park areas has made the lake a haven for families who enjoy camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing and other outdoor recreation. Recreation
The lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers will find largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass and channel and flathead catfish, among other species.

Hunting is a very popular activity in the area. The surrounding lands are managed for upland game and whitetail deer. Other species present include fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, cottontail rabbit, raccoon and fox. Opossum, beaver, mink, skunk and nutria are also present.

The lake also provides resting and feeding habitats for migratory waterfowl. A few miles north of the project area are the famed Red River Bottoms where waterfowl congregate in impressive numbers.Facilities
