About This Access Site
Pathfinder Reservoir offers excellent boating access via multiple launch points located about 47 miles southwest of Casper on the North Platte River. This site features **three dedicated boat ramps** across the reservoir, with two conveniently located at the marina near Diabase Campground. Access is via U.S. 220, followed by County Roads 408 or 410. The marina is seasonal and includes a parking lot and dump station for boater convenience.

The reservoir is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating, with excellent fishing opportunities including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, brown trout, and walleye. The area is surrounded by the Pathfinder National Wildlife Refuge in a scenic high plains basin. Multiple campgrounds are available for overnight stays, making this an ideal base for multi-day paddling trips or fishing excursions on the North Platte River system.

Paddlers should check seasonal conditions and weather before visiting, as high plains weather can change rapidly. The interpretive center and trail near the dam offer additional recreation opportunities for those looking to explore beyond the water.
