About This Access Site
Paul Prater Landing is a public boat ramp located at the south end of Hubbard Creek Reservoir Dam in Stephens County, Texas. This is a newer ramp facility that provides reliable access to the 6,500-acre reservoir. The ramp is generally serviceable across a wide range of water levels, remaining usable down to lake elevation 1,160 feet—making it one of the more dependable launch points even during dry periods when other ramps may close.

As a reservoir paddling destination, Hubbard Creek offers calm water conditions suitable for recreational kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating. The landing provides access to expansive open water ideal for paddlers seeking a scenic day trip. While the ramp itself can handle busy weekend traffic, note that several other public ramps are also available around the lake (Peeler, Corley, and Clark), which helps distribute boater traffic during peak seasons. Bait and tackle shops can be found nearby on US 80 if you need supplies, though there are no boat rental facilities at the lake. Plan ahead for parking and arrive early during weekends.
