About This Access Site
Pelton Park offers year-round boat ramp access to Lake Simtustus on the Deschutes River near Madras. The ramp is steep, so be prepared for a challenging launch and retrieval. Non-motorized paddlers and swimmers should note that water access is primarily via a dock with a ladder; walking off the boat ramp is an option but not ideal. The facility is conveniently located off Highway 26 (approach from the north for easiest access)—look for directional signage after crossing the Deschutes River at Warm Springs.

The surrounding area supports recreational boating, fishing, and swimming on the lake. Mecca Flat Campground is nearby for overnight stays, and additional recreation opportunities include Haystack Reservoir and the scenic Trout Creek Trail, which runs along the Wild and Scenic Deschutes River. While the campground and marina facilities are seasonally closed, the boat ramp itself remains accessible year-round, making this a reliable put-in for both kayakers and motorized boaters.
