Located near Lothrop on the Clark Fork River just off Interstate 90 (Exit 77), Petty Creek offers a well-maintained concrete boat ramp on the upstream left side of the Petty Creek Bridge. This is a popular access point for both whitewater boaters and wade fishermen, with toilet facilities available on-site.
The Petty Creek area provides excellent floating opportunities. The 9-mile section from Huson to Petty Creek features quality whitewater with no technical rapids, making it suitable for intermediate paddlers. The Clark Fork River in this section is a medium-sized, flowing river popular for both boating and fishing access. Paddlers can expect good water conditions and scenic views with proximity to the Lolo National Forest.
This access point is significantly more developed than the upstream Huson launch, making it a reliable choice for boaters planning trips on this section of the Clark Fork River.
