About This Access Site
Pickerel Lake Boat Ramp provides public access to this 581-acre lake located in the Nicolet National Forest near Almond in Portage County. The paved boat ramp is situated on the south side of the lake at the end of Pinewood Drive, offering a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. With a maximum depth of 17-19 feet, the lake is suitable for various paddling skill levels and recreational activities.

The lake supports a healthy fishery including panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and musky, making it popular with anglers as well as paddlers. As a forest service lake within the Nicolet National Forest, this access point provides a quieter, more natural setting compared to heavily developed lakes in the region. Paddlers should come prepared for typical Wisconsin lake conditions and check current weather before heading out, especially given the lake's size and depth.
