About This Access Site
Pickerel Lake Recreation Area's East unit offers convenient boat launch access to Pickerel Lake in Day County, South Dakota. The facility features a dedicated boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, plus amenities including a fishing pier, fish cleaning station, and drinking water. This is one of two boat ramps serving the lake, providing good access options for paddlers and boaters.

The recreation area is well-developed for water recreation, with equipment rentals available including canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards—making it accessible for visitors without their own gear. The East campground offers 69 campsites and seven camping cabins for extended visits. Anglers will appreciate that Pickerel Lake is regularly stocked. In addition to water access, the area provides hiking trails, a swimming beach, playgrounds, and most facilities are ADA accessible.
