The S.W. Taylor Ramp provides convenient access to Pickwick Lake, the northern terminus of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. This boat ramp is an excellent starting point for paddlers and boaters exploring one of the region's most significant waterways. Pickwick Lake's broad, calm waters make it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and recreational boating, with numerous protected coves offering shelter and exploration opportunities.
From this access point, paddlers can venture south along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway toward the Canal Section, which features five locks and dams over 46 miles. The waterway is well-developed with multiple boat ramps and marinas throughout, making it suitable for both day trips and extended paddling adventures. The lake area is popular for fishing and various water sports, with nearby Shiloh National Military Park offering historical interest for visitors to the region.
