Pilot Butte Reservoir boat ramp provides access to approximately 1,000 surface acres of water located 25 miles west of Riverton, Wyoming, via U.S. 26. This is a single public launch point serving the reservoir, with limited shoreline access available via West Pavilion and Pilot Butte roads. The facility includes a boat ramp, comfort station, picnic shelters, and camping facilities. As a relatively calm, inland reservoir, it's suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters of varying experience levels.
The reservoir supports year-round fishing (Wyoming State license required) for trout, ling, and crappie, which attracts both anglers and recreational paddlers. Be aware that boater traffic is predominantly motorized watercraft and local residents. Shore launching is not available, so use the developed ramp for all water access. Check current conditions and water levels before your visit, and bring adequate supplies, as services are limited in this remote location near the Wind River area.
