Pine Island Lake is an 11-acre lake in Washburn County with a maximum depth of 35 feet, offering a pleasant paddling destination for kayakers and canoeists. The public boat ramp features excellent accessibility, including a handicapped-accessible launch ramp and dock/fishing pier, making it welcoming for paddlers of all abilities.
**Facilities & Parking:** The access site provides 4 striped boat trailer parking spaces and 2 standard car parking spaces, along with handicapped parking. The ramp has been improved with modern signage and amenities to support safe launching. There are no fees for access.
**Getting Started:** From Pine Island Lake, paddlers can continue downstream toward the Baraboo River system, with notable sections including a 6.0-mile run to Highway 33 (featuring good sandbars) and a 5.2-mile section from Portage to Thunderbird Road. This makes the ramp an ideal starting point for both day trips on the lake and longer paddling adventures on connected waterways.
