Play Park

**Location & Access:** Play Park is located in Pontiac, Livingston County, on the Vermillion River. From Route 6, turn south onto West River Road on the west side of the bridge (near Convenient Food Mart), then turn left onto the Boat Ramp access road after about ¼ mile. Note that traffic on West River Road from the south does not stop at this intersection.

**Facilities & Use:** The site features a boat ramp and dock complex suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. The facility includes a parking lot and is open year-round. This is a high-use area, especially during summer weekends with mixed recreation including power boating, jet skiing, and fishing tournaments. Water levels vary seasonally—spring and early summer typically offer the best conditions for paddling downstream toward the Illinois River, which is just a couple miles away. Check river conditions before launching, as water height affects navigability, particularly for multi-day trips.

**Wildlife & Amenities:** The area supports diverse wildlife including herons, river otters, and eagles. Additional park amenities include a playground and concession building, making it a family-friendly access point for a variety of water recreation.
