About This Access Site
Pleasant Valley is a well-developed public boat access on Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park near Portersville. The facility features a 20-foot-wide concrete ramp with boat docks on both sides and ample parking, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This is the primary access point for exploring Lake Arthur, a scenic 3,225-acre impoundment known for wildlife viewing, including Bald Eagles and waterfowl.

From this location, paddlers can explore Lake Arthur's calm waters or connect to the 53-mile Susquehanna River Water Trail-Lower Section managed by the Susquehanna National Heritage Area. The lake offers excellent paddling opportunities year-round and is popular with anglers (Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission regulations apply). The nearby Pleasant Valley Beach on the south shore provides additional recreation options during summer months. Moraine State Park's natural setting and opportunities for wildlife observation make this a gateway to a scenic paddling destination in Butler County.
