Point Salish Park, located in Polson on the southern end of Flathead Lake, offers one of only two public boat ramps in the Polson area. The site features a boat ramp, restrooms, and picnic facilities, making it a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters accessing Montana's largest freshwater lake. The park spans 28 acres and provides basic amenities for day-use recreation.
**Important Note for Tribal Lands:** Point Salish Park (also called Salish Point) is operated by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The southern half of Flathead Lake falls within the Flathead Reservation boundary, and **recreationists must purchase a tribal recreation permit** before launching. Contact the regional office for current permit requirements, seasonal closure dates, and operating hours before planning your visit. Check current weather conditions before heading out, as Flathead Lake is a large, open body of water subject to changing conditions.
