About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Pokegama Lake #2 is located near Cohasset in Itasca County, Minnesota, just 2 miles west of Grand Rapids via Highway 2. This boat ramp provides access to Pokegama Lake and the adjacent Mississippi River, offering paddlers and boaters convenient entry to one of northern Minnesota's scenic lake country destinations. The Pokegama Dam Campground is located at this site and offers nearby camping facilities through Recreation.gov (reservations available; call 218-326-6128).

**Boating Conditions & Recreation:** Pokegama Lake spans 6,612 acres and welcomes kayaks, canoes, fishing boats, and other watercraft. The lake and Mississippi River offer excellent opportunities for paddling, fishing (walleye, northern pike, bass, and sunfish are common), and wildlife viewing. Portable bathrooms are available seasonally (May–October). Be aware that speed limits and no-wake zones may be in effect during certain times of year to protect wildlife and other users. The campground maintains quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and vehicles/trailers are not permitted on grass areas.

The campground, pronounced "po-KEG-uh-muh," offers 19 electric back in sites, two primitive tent-only sites (non-electric) and one day-use picnic shealter with electric. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station, boat ramp, playground and a fish cleaning station.Natural Features
A forest of mixed hardwoods and towering red pines cover the area, housing an abundance of wildlife including bald eagles, porcupines, black bears chipmunks and many others. Wild blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries grow seasonally on the forest floor.
