About This Access Site
Portage Cove Harbor in Kake, Alaska provides boaters and paddlers with access to the Pacific Ocean and nearby inlets. This boat ramp facility was originally constructed over 30 years ago by the Alaska Department of Transportation, and is currently undergoing upgrades to improve recreational access.

The ramp offers two launch lanes, along with a boarding float, trailer parking, and vehicle parking. Once the project is complete, the harbor will offer an additional 510 feet of tie-up space, improved wave protection, and expanded parking. This access point serves the needs of the local community, providing a gateway to Chilkoot Inlet, Lutak Inlet, Taiya Inlet, and the broader Lynn Canal.

For kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters, Portage Cove Harbor offers a convenient launching point to explore the scenic Pacific Ocean coastline and nearby waterways. The facility's upgrades are designed to enhance the recreational experience and meet the evolving needs of the area's anglers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts.
