This state-owned public access site on the northwest shore of Potato Lake provides convenient entry to one of the Park Rapids area's most popular recreational lakes. Potato Lake spans 2,096 acres with a maximum depth of 87 feet, offering plenty of water for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating. The access point is well-positioned if you're planning to explore the northwestern section of the lake or connect to the inlet river system linking to Eagle Lake.
The ramp can accommodate small to medium-sized boats (typically 12-18 feet), making it suitable for most kayaks and canoes as well as recreational fishing boats. Note that Minnesota State Park vehicle permits may be required depending on the specific access location—verify current permit requirements before your visit. For paddlers interested in exploring beyond Potato Lake, the connecting inlet river to Eagle Lake offers additional boating opportunities downstream.
