About This Access Site
Potosi Point offers boat ramp access to the Mississippi River's Pool 11, located two miles south of Potosi, Wisconsin off Highway 133. The ramp is situated within the Grant River Recreation Area campground, which features 73 campsites (63 with electrical hookups), water and dump stations, restrooms, showers, and picnic facilities. The recreational area is known for scenic views of the main river channel and abundant wildlife, including cranes, beavers, and waterfowl.

**For paddlers and boaters:** This ramp works best in spring before aquatic vegetation becomes heavy. Water levels and vegetation growth can make access challenging for larger vessels as summer progresses. The Upper Mississippi River in this section is a major waterway with average flows around 685,000 cubic feet per second and moderate current. Expect wildlife viewing opportunities along both sides of the access road leading to the launch. The gentle gradient typical of this reach of the Mississippi makes it suitable for various skill levels, though paddlers should always respect the river's strong flow and volume.
