About This Access Site
The North Marina Complex at Poverty Point Reservoir offers a well-developed access point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters in northeastern Louisiana. The facility features two four-lane boat launches (one at the North Marina and one at the South Landing), a 48-slip covered marina, swimming beach, fishing pier, and fish cleaning station. Both launch areas are gated and open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., including weekends and holidays, making this a convenient spot for day trips or extended outings.

Poverty Point Reservoir is a popular destination for year-round fishing with abundant largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, and channel catfish. The area offers good amenities for paddlers and anglers alike, including a concession area and marina services. When visiting, be aware that the eastern edge of the park along Bayou Macon contains bear habitat—keep all food, trash, and supplies secured in bear-proof containers provided throughout the park. For more information about the facility and the historic Poverty Point World Heritage Site, visit https://www.povertypoint.us/ or call (318) 926-5492.
