**Important Note:** The Powderhorn boat ramp at Merritt Reservoir is currently closed due to overwinter ice damage. Paddlers and boaters should use alternative access points on Merritt Reservoir, which is located on the Snake River approximately 14 miles upstream from the confluence with the Niobrara River near Ainsworth, Nebraska.

**Alternative Access:** Given the closure, check current conditions and consider other boat launches available on Merritt Reservoir before planning your trip. Contact local authorities or visit the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission website for updated information on accessible ramps and any seasonal restrictions.

**General Area Information:** This area is part of the Merritt Dam facility, part of the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program. The region offers recreational opportunities typical of Nebraska's reservoir system, suitable for boaters, kayakers, and canoeists. Respect private property boundaries in the area, keep noise levels low, and pack out all trash. Public access may be limited near adjacent Wildlife Management Areas or State Parks—stay in the water and on immediate shorelines unless you have explicit permission to enter private lands.
