Located on the south side of Powerton Lake along Manito Blacktop in Pekin, this Illinois Department of Natural Resources facility offers a well-developed public boat access. The site features a double-lane concrete boat ramp with ample parking for 90 vehicles and trailers, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. An accessible fishing pier, vault toilet, and fencing are also available on-site.
Paddlers should note that this is a state fish and wildlife area with no on-site food, fuel, or services, so plan accordingly before arriving. The facility operates seasonally with extended summer hours (May 1 – September 30, 6 A.M. – 8 P.M.) and reduced winter hours (October 1 – April 30, 8 A.M. – 4 P.M.). Powerton Lake has specific boat traffic regulations, so check current restrictions before launching. The nearby Farmdale Dam on Farm Creek offers additional exploration opportunities in the area.
