About This Access Site
Pringles Ferry is a Georgetown County-managed public boat access on the lower Black River in Georgetown County, South Carolina. The facility features a double paved boat ramp and floating dock, with limited parking available at the end of a residential dirt road. This is one of five public landings along the lower 38-mile section of the Black River, located downstream from the State Scenic River designation that ends at Pea House Landing.

The Black River at this location is a major waterway with an average flow of over 10,500 cubic feet per second and relatively gentle gradient of 1.5 feet per mile. Paddlers and boaters can expect a wide, slow-moving river suitable for various water craft. From Pringles Ferry, the river continues another 38 miles to its confluence with the Great Pee Dee River. The area is near the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, offering opportunities to explore diverse habitats including tidal marshes and transitional wetlands typical of South Carolina's coastal plain.

Given the limited parking and rural location, arrive early during peak season. The facility's double ramp and floating dock provide good access for launching various vessels, making it a practical put-in or take-out point for day trips or longer paddling expeditions on the lower Black River.
