About This Access Site
Prompton Dam provides the single boat launch access point for 290-acre Prompton Lake in Wayne County, PA. The ramp is located on the west shore off PA 170, positioned mid-way between the dam and the upper end of the lake. This is a steep launch with a small parking area, portable restrooms, and picnic tables available nearby.

**Important Boating Regulations:** Motorized boats are permitted but restricted to 10 HP maximum. All watercraft—motorized and non-motorized—require proper registration or permits. The lake is suitable for kayaking, canoeing, and small motorboats. Note that swimming is not permitted in the lake. The surrounding Prompton State Park offers additional picnicking opportunities and access to the scenic Appalachian Mountains and Allegheny Plateau region.
