Pushaw Lake

Pushaw Lake in Orono provides convenient public access to one of Maine's largest lakes at 4,683 acres. The boat ramp facility includes a public dock and dedicated canoe/kayak launch area, making it suitable for paddlers of all experience levels. The site is easily accessible via Exit 191 off I-95; head west on the exit ramp and continue to Essex Street to reach the launch.

This expansive lake offers excellent opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating without launch fees. The calm, scenic waters of Pushaw Lake make it an ideal destination for paddlers seeking a leisurely day on the water. Nearby Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, located about 14 miles north near Milford, provides additional paddling and wildlife viewing opportunities in the region. Fuel dock services and boat rentals (including kayaks, pontoon boats, and jet skis) are available through commercial operators at the access area.
