Located in Aitkin, Crow Wing County, this state-owned public access provides boaters and paddlers with an earthen boat ramp for launching onto Rabbit Lake. The access point is situated on the east side of the lake in a small bay, offering a straightforward entry point for recreational use. Note that there is no dock facility at this access site, so hand-launching smaller craft like kayaks and canoes is feasible.
Rabbit Lake encompasses multiple sections totaling over 1,400 acres, with the eastern portion reaching depths up to 337 feet, making it suitable for various water activities. The water has moderate clarity with visibility around 9.5 feet. Paddlers should be prepared for the lake's size and depth variations—the lake is substantial enough to warrant caution in windy conditions. This access site serves as a gateway to exploring the broader Rabbit Lake system and is conveniently located near other recreation areas in Minnesota's lake country, including the Mississippi River Headwaters region and the Whitefish Chain of lakes.
