Rabbit Lake's public access point is located on the east side of the lake in Aitkin County, near the community of McGregor. This state-owned access features an earthen boat ramp with no dock, making it a basic but functional launch point for paddlers and small boats. The modest facilities are suited for hand-launched kayaks and canoes as well as trailered boats.

Rabbit Lake covers 214 acres with a maximum depth of 51 feet, making it a moderately sized lake suitable for recreational paddling. The water has a brownish tint with moderate clarity (9.5-foot secchi depth as of 2019). Paddlers should expect typical north-central Minnesota lake conditions.
