Located on the west end of Lake Umatilla near Maryhill, Washington, Railroad Island Park provides convenient access to this expansive reservoir created by John Day Dam. The facility features a two-lane concrete boat ramp with a dock and paved parking area, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Access the site via John Day Dam Road on the north side of the lake.
Lake Umatilla offers excellent opportunities for paddling and fishing, with anglers regularly pursuing Chinook salmon, steelhead, walleye, sturgeon, and shad. The calm reservoir conditions make this a suitable launch point for various watercraft, whether you're planning a day paddle or longer water sports outing. As a day-use facility managed as part of the John Day Lock and Dam recreation area, Railroad Island Park provides straightforward river access without requiring reservations.
