The Rand access site provides a launch point onto Oregon's Wild and Scenic Rogue River in Josephine County. Located in the scenic Rogue River country near the Galice-Hellgate Backcountry Byway, this site offers paddlers and boaters access to one of the Pacific Northwest's most popular river destinations. The area features the stunning Wild Rogue Wilderness, which encompasses over 35,000 acres of protected land managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
While specific amenities at the Rand site are limited, paddlers should note that nearby alternatives like Grave Creek Boat Ramp offer more developed facilities, including pit toilets and paved launching areas. Grave Creek, located downstream near rivermile 68, is the most heavily used launch point in the area. For a less crowded experience, the primitive Argo gravel bar launch is available 2 miles upriver, though it requires carrying boats over rocky terrain. Plan accordingly based on your group size and equipment, and check current river conditions before launching, as the Rogue is a dynamic Wild and Scenic River with varying water levels and flows.
