About This Access Site
Rathbun Marina provides boat access to Rathbun Lake, an 11,000-acre reservoir on the Chariton River in the rolling hills of southern Iowa. The facility features a concrete boat ramp, dock, and marina services, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. On-site amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station for larger vessels.

This recreation area is part of a larger lake complex with abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, including bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, and wild turkey. The scenic setting in the Chariton River Valley offers good conditions for paddling, and the lake supports excellent fishing and boating opportunities. With over 700 campsites available throughout Rathbun Lake, paddlers can plan extended trips with convenient camping nearby.
