Located in the scenic Chariton River Valley of southeast Iowa near Confidence, this access point provides a well-developed boat ramp and marina facility for launching onto the 11,000-acre Rathbun Lake and the South Fork Chariton River. The marina features a concrete boat ramp, dock access, and nearby bait shop, making it convenient for both kayakers and motorboaters. Full amenities are available on-site, including flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station.
This is an excellent base for exploring the rolling hill terrain surrounding the water body. The area is known for abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, including bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, and wild turkey. With over 700 campsites available at the larger Rathbun Lake complex, paddlers can plan extended trips with camping. The facility is non-reservable and managed as part of the Wildlife Management Area recreation program, offering good accessibility for day trips or weekend paddles in a scenic, less-developed landscape.
