Rayburn Park (North) provides boat ramp access to Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a massive 114,000-acre impoundment on the Angelina River in San Augustine County. This is one of 22 maintained access areas around the reservoir, making it a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The concrete ramp accommodates various vessel sizes and water conditions.
As Texas's largest man-made lake entirely within state boundaries, Sam Rayburn offers ample paddling opportunities across its expansive surface. The surrounding Big Thicket region features diverse wildlife and unique flora. Paddlers should be prepared for large water conditions and plan accordingly, as access to services varies across the 114,000-acre lake. An activity pass may be required for access—check with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or Recreation.gov for current requirements, fees, and facility hours before your visit.
