About This Access Site
Raymond City offers a well-maintained public access point on the Kanawha River near Poca in Putnam County. The facility features a concrete launch ramp, elevated pier, and ample parking—making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger motorized boats. Located upstream from the Winfield Pool area, this access point is one of the larger launch facilities along this section of the river.

The Kanawha River at this location is a major commercial waterway used for coal and chemical shipping through an industrial corridor. Boaters should be aware of barge and towboat traffic, particularly in the navigation pools maintained along the river. This access point provides a good launching option for paddlers and boaters exploring this section of the Kanawha River system. The site is maintained by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources as part of the state's extensive network of public boating and fishing access areas.
