Red Hills Lake offers a small public boat ramp located on the southwest corner of the dam, making it a convenient access point for paddlers and small boaters in Lawrence County. The lake is situated on the south side of U.S. Route 50, approximately midway between Lawrenceville and Olney. This is an electric and human-powered watercraft only lake—gas motors are prohibited for operation on the water, though they may be used for loading and unloading boats.
The 87-acre impoundment is well-suited for kayaking and canoeing, with a paved road circling the lake that provides scenic views, especially during fall foliage season. The lake supports a healthy fish population including largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish, making it popular with anglers. Red Hills Lake is open year-round and permits two pole and line fishing only, so expect to share the water with fishing activity.
