About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Red River Levee Landing is located in Black Hawk, Concordia Parish, Louisiana, near the small community along LA Highway 452 (Brouillette Highway). To reach the ramp, take Highway 452 north from Marksville approximately 11 miles and look for the Corps of Engineers sign on the left side of the road at the foot of the levee. Follow signs to the access road leading to the boat ramp on the left.

**River Conditions:** The Red River at this location is a major waterway (Stream Order 9) with significant flow—averaging over 68,000 cubic feet per second. Paddlers and boaters should expect a moderate current of approximately 5.9 feet per second. The river has a gentle average gradient of 1.6 feet per mile, though water levels can fluctuate seasonally. High water conditions (river gauge readings of 21 or higher with predicted continued rise) may affect access at nearby ramps, so check current conditions before launching.

**Nearby Recreation:** This access point provides opportunities to explore the Red River corridor and connects to notable areas including the Old River Lock (approximately 50 miles northwest toward Baton Rouge) and Lake Ophelia National Wildlife Refuge. The landing serves boaters, canoeists, and kayakers looking to access this major river system in northeastern Louisiana.
