Reick's Lake Park offers public boat ramp access to the Buffalo River near Alma, Wisconsin. The main ramp is located approximately 0.5 miles north of the campground and features a larger, more developed launch facility than the campground alternative. Note that this is a popular access point that may see powerboat traffic, particularly during peak seasons. A parking lot and dock facilities are available at the site.
The Buffalo River at this location is a substantial waterway—a large, sixth-order river with significant flow (averaging over 1,800 cubic feet per second) and moderate current (approximately 3.2 feet per second). The river drops about 8.5 feet per mile in this section, creating dynamic conditions suitable for experienced paddlers and motorboaters. Kayakers and canoeists should be prepared for moving water and may encounter commercial or recreational power boats sharing the waterway. The Buffalo River ultimately joins the Mississippi River system downstream, offering extended paddling opportunities for those exploring the Upper Mississippi River Valley.
