The Nason South Access Area provides boat ramp access to Rend Lake, a large recreational lake in southern Illinois located near Nason in Jefferson County. This access point features an accessible 20-foot fishing dock with a textured aluminum surface that serves dual purposes for both fishing and boat launches. The facility is part of the Rend Lake recreation area managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Paddlers and boaters can use this site to access the 18,400-acre lake, which offers excellent opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating in a calm-water environment. The area is well-supported with nearby amenities, including three reservable campgrounds within 10 miles (North Sandusky, South Sandusky, and South Marcum), making it convenient for multi-day trips. The Rend Lake Visitor Center is located at this facility, providing information about the lake's wildlife and recreational opportunities. This is one of several access points around the lake, so paddlers can plan routes or explore different areas based on wind conditions and fishing activity.
