Rice's Point, also known as the Garfield Boat Launch, is a two-acre public boat landing located at the southernmost tip of Rice's Point in Duluth on the St. Louis River. Managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, this access point offers a convenient launch for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats exploring the lower St. Louis River and its connection to Lake Superior's Duluth-Superior Harbor.
The site features concrete ramps suitable for launching various watercraft, with adjacent parking and a historic fishing dock built on a remnant of the old Interstate Bridge (1889–1961). This location provides good access to the harbor's commercial shipping lanes and scenic waterfront views. Paddlers should note that this is an urban waterway with active boat traffic, so appropriate caution and navigation skills are recommended, especially during peak shipping seasons.
